Design Engineer (Piping – Stress Analysis)

Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical)

Minimum 5 years


  • Undertake design and engineering of piping, such as;
    • Development of equipment specifications
    • Sizing of piping, selection of materials, and selection of valves, flanges and fittings.
    • Design of interconnections.
    • Development of Plot Plans, General Arrangements, Piping Layouts and Isometrics
    • Development of piping design and material specifications
    • Preparation of line schedules, Material take offs (MTOs) and Bills of Quantities.
  • Undertake design and engineering of piping such as;
    • Development of stress analysis criteria and critical lines list.
    • Development of stress analysis model on CAESER II and execute stress analysis for critical lines.
    • Compile stress analysis calculations report with recommendations/changes in the piping design.
    • Development of piping design and material specifications for specialty items like spring supports, hangers, expansion joints, steam traps etc.
  • Lead Engineering Project, typically involving;
    • Examination of project SoW and developing deliverables, estimation of manhours and timelines.
    • Monitoring and reporting of progress.
    • Inter-disciplinary coordination in engineering projects.
    • Communication and coordination with client engineers
  • Ensure compliance with to QMS procedure and provide regular feedback to the Section Manager.


  • Must have reasonable experience of work on projects of international repute as a Discipline Lead or a Project Lead.
  • Must have skills of problem solving, team working, good communicator, adaptability and flexibility, IT skills, self-motivation.
  • Use of plant piping stress analysis soft wares e.g. CASER II
  • Design and selection of piping specialty items (eg spring supports, hangers, expansion joints, steam traps, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards (eg ASME, API, etc.)
  • Estimations of piping costs
  • Manpower and Engineering resource estimation.
  • Engineering project planning, using project planning software.
